Launched by the German Banking Industry Committee (GBIC), Girocard enables cashless payments and ATM withdrawals, accounting for over 68% of card payments in the country​.

One of Girocard’s advantages is its strong network of 1 million payment terminals and widespread use at POS locations, ensuring ease of access for both consumers and merchants. It is co-branded with Visa (V-Pay) or MasterCard (Maestro), allowing it to be used for international payments as well.
